We’re a not-for-profit Community Interest Company (CIC) based in Hampshire, growing healthy food through healthy soil. Our mission is to demonstrate that caring for the soil leads to stronger communities, more nutritious food, and a more resilient planet.

Our first market garden site is at Rushmere Farm, Hambledon, where we grow certified organic produce. We’ve also expanded to a new site at The Lockerley Estate, near Romsey, where we’re scaling up production and community outreach.
We have a small honesty shop at Rushmere Farm and a bigger Veg Shed Shop at Manor Farm, East Tytherley.
Yes - our Rushmere Farm site is certified organic by the Soil Association (Licence No. AB31749). Everything we grow there follows strict organic principles.
Our second site at The Lockerley Estate is now “in-conversion” whilst we follow the exact same principles and absolutely no nasties are used (or have been used for a few years), we need to go through a period of time with the Soil Association to be allowed to use the organic wording on this site.
Our food boxes are filled with organic produce that is clearly labelled on whether it is organic or not. You will see which of our sites veg from our market gardens is from, if we buy locally it is only from organic or regenerative farms, and all our other veg and fruit comes from organic wholesalers who only purchase from checked-out organically certified sites. We cannot currently call our veg boxes organic as this requires another certification that we can’t quite afford yet, it is coming soon we hope though!
If you have any questions at all, please do email us on: [email protected]
The way we grow is different to “conventional agriculture of old”… it’s about restoring soil life, increasing biodiversity, and locking carbon back into the ground. We use compost, cover crops, and minimal tillage to build living, healthy soil that grows nutrient-dense food. We focus on a human approach to working the land, that looks closely at the surroundings, soil and nature.
We offer a different way to shop…
We deliver seasonal veg boxes, fruit & veg boxes, and a selection of local, sustainable groceries - all grown or sourced with care from trusted farms and producers. But this isn’t. a”get what your given only” scheme… We want people to think differently about how they shop, you can either sign up to a seasonal veg box, OR just shop as you normally do with us. There is no long term commitment, you can do one-off orders, and even if you do order a seasonal veg box.. you can swap what you don’t like in it!
We have taken Veg Boxes To The Next Level and now provide a full range; so you can shop with us for as much as you like. From Veg to Fruit, Bread to Eggs, Seafood to Baked Beans… You can simply shop for what you would like and add it to your basket, or subscribe to a regular box.. either way there is no long term commitment; skip, pause or cancel anytime.
When you buy from us, you’re not just eating better... you’re supporting regenerative farming that builds healthy soil.
Each week’s box is packed with what’s freshest and in season. Contents vary with the harvest... that’s part of the fun!
Expect a mix of staples and surprises, all grown locally or sourced regeneratively.
Or if this doesn’t work for you… order what you like! No commitment, just shop how you normally would.
You can see the contents of recent boxes by clicking the different options here: https://shop.hampshiremarketgarden.co.uk/boxes
Yes - you can add, remove or swap items depending on what’s available that week.
Not at all. You can make a one-off order, subscribe for convenience, or pause/cancel any time. No long-term commitment.
We aim for minimal, sustainable packaging. Most items are packed loose or in recyclable paper and cardboard. The only plastic we use is where it helps keep leafy greens fresh and prevents food waste. We constantly review our packaging to make it as low-impact as possible.
As more research continues to emerge, it’s becoming clear that compostable plastics don’t always perform as expected outside of controlled laboratory conditions. In reality, they rarely break down effectively in home compost systems, and the UK currently lacks the industrial infrastructure needed to collect and process the wide range of compostable materials being used.
Many compostable plastics are also made from imported starches - often derived from genetically modified (GM) crops grown abroad - which raises both sustainability and ethical concerns.
These materials are not permitted under organic certification standards and are rightly opposed by the Soil Association for their potential environmental impact and links to unsustainable agricultural systems.
For these reasons, we’ve chosen to focus instead on reducing packaging overall, using recyclable materials, and supporting a truly circular and sustainable approach to resource use.
You can wash out and return any plastics used to us for us to deal with.
YES please do!!!! Leave your empty box out on your next delivery day and we’ll collect it for reuse or recycling.
